Adam Nielander receives DOE Early Career Research Program award!
By Marzia Cavallo
We are proud to share that Adam Nielander has been selected for the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science’s Early Career Research Program award. The award provides five years of funding to support his team’s research on light-powered catalysts that convert nitrate contaminants in soil and groundwater into harmless nitrogen gas. His project will investigate the fundamental chemical processes behind these reactions and develop nanoparticle-based systems that use sunlight to power them. Drawing on advanced X-ray and electron microscopy facilities at SLAC and Stanford, the team aims to understand how catalyst materials and their interfaces influence performance. This research could pave the way for new approaches to environmental remediation and expand the use of solar-powered catalysis. Congratulations to Adam on this recognition and the exciting research ahead!
