Adam grew up in Roanoke, VA and received his B.S./M.S from the University of Virginia in 2010. He attained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology in 2016 studying photoelectrochemical behavior of interfaces between 2-D materials and semiconductors. As a postdoctoral scholar and research engineer at Stanford University, he studied electrocatalysis for hydrogen and ammonia production.
He joined the SUNCAT in the Energy Science Directorate at SLAC as a PI in November 2021, where he leads a team studying the dynamics of electrocatalytic interfaces and the design of devices that use light to drive fuel production.
