SLAC Neutrino Group

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

The SLAC neutrino group is focused on neutrino experiments measuring accelerator-produced neutrinos, in particular the experiments based on the technology of liquid-argon time-projection chambers (LArTPCs).

Some focuses of the group include:

  • Machine-learning based reconstruction of LArTPC events. The "SPINE" reconstruction package is an end-to-end reconstruction chain that is now in use on the ICARUS experiment, SBND, and for the DUNE near detector, far detector and ProtoDUNE

  • DUNE Near Detector construction. SLAC is especially engaged the Muon Spectrometer (TMS) and the field cage for the ND LArTPC.

  • R&D aimed at low-energy physics in LArTPC detectors. This includes the development of the GAMPix scheme for charge readout, and studies of a possible experiment at the Oak Ridge SNS to measure low-energy neutrino-Argon cross sections
