Stanford | Listening Sessions (zoom)

-

From the Stanford University Subcommittee on Antisemitism and Anti-Israeli Bias,

We are writing as members of the Stanford University Subcommittee on Antisemitism and Anti-Israeli Bias, constituted by President Richard Saller, to invite you to participate in a listening session for university staff to help inform our work.

We are working to compile a full account of the experience of Jewish, Israeli, and other interested community members with respect to antisemitism and anti-Israeli bias at Stanford University. Our purpose is to help the University create an environment where all members of the community, including Jewish and Israeli students, faculty, and staff, are physically and emotionally safe on the Stanford campus, that they do not experience a hostile environment, and that they are treated with dignity and respect as full participants in the university community.

We invite you to share your experiences by signing up for a small-group listening session. We are taking a number of steps to ensure that participants will be free to speak candidly in these sessions. No cell phone use (or visible exposure) will be allowed, and no electronic recordings of any kind will be made or permitted. Each session will have a Subcommittee member or staff taking confidential notes. And participants are asked to abide by the Chatham House Rule; the identity of speakers and participants may not be revealed, nor may any participant convey information outside the session that would otherwise identify a speaker or participant.

The sessions available are as follows:

  • Friday, February 16: 2-3 pm (Zoom)
  • Thursday, February 22: 12-1 pm (in-person)

To sign up for one of these sessions, please use the following form. We will email you the Zoom details/location of your session a day or so before the session. To ensure all participants have a chance to speak, we may limit the size of each session to 10 to 15 people on a first-come, first-served basis. If the time of the sessions does not work for you, then you can indicate that on the form, and we will try to add additional sessions.

If there are experiences or insights you would like to share with the Subcommittee but feel that the above ground rules do not provide you with sufficient confidentiality, please contact the Subcommittee at abccommittee@stanford.edu and indicate whether you would like to have a private discussion or would like to organize a group discussion among a smaller group of people you know.
