In this memoir, Saeed Jones, a black, gay man from the South, shares his coming-of-age story at the intersection of race, sexuality, and power. The book is written in a series of vignettes that portray his relationships with family, friends, and lovers, as well as his personal struggles with identity, grief, and desire. Through a blend of poetry and prose, Jones creates a powerful and haunting portrait of what it means to fight for oneself in a society that marginalizes and discriminates against people based on their race and sexuality. Overall, the book is a poignant examination of the human experience and a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

We look forward to a vibrant discussion on this thought-provoking book.

We hope to see you there!

A note on participation and time-charging: Supervisors are encouraged to allow employees to participate in community activities as operations permit. Employees should charge their usual PA since the activities provide value to SLAC. However, if a particular project requires work to be backfilled during this time, a separate PA number might be required. For employees who are part of a service center, they should charge their shop’s UDT (undistributed time) code. For exceptions or complex charging situations, reach out to your business manager.
